On June 22, 1919, former President William Howard Taft visited Paxton while on his way to Champaign.

After disembarking from a long train ride, Taft delivered a speech in the Pells Park Pavilion in favor of U.S. entry into the newly formed League of Nations.

An excerpt of his speech can be found in the June 26, 1919 edition of the Paxton Daily Record, which is available on microfilm at the Paxton Carnegie Library.

Eleven seniors at Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School have been named Illinois State Scholars in recognition of their academic achievement.

The Paxton-Buckley-Loda school board discussed Wednesday the possibility of instituting tablets or smart devices, such as smartphones or iPads, for use in classrooms.

The Paxton-Buckley-Loda school board approved the district’s proposed 2013 tax levy Wednesday, and it differs only slightly from the preliminary version approved a month earlier.

Calendar of Events

Christmas Carnival at the PBL high school gym. The carnival is open to students enrolled in kindergarten through fifth grade. The cost is $5 per child. Activities include cookies, holiday bingo, face painting, crafts and games.
